It is important to know where you will fit in on your new employer's team, but you need to understand that your manager may not be looking for someone with your past experience. Although it may seem difficult, knowing where to begin, can help you write the perfect resume.When doing research on resumes and where to place your previous employment details, you may find that it makes sense to place your current employment with 'Contract Work' on your resume. This doesn't mean that you are lying or trying to get your hands on a job. Rather, if you wrote a cover letter that included contract work as an extenuating circumstance, you can change that into an easy reference for a new employer. Simply highlight your contract employment in the appropriate area on your resume.Your former employer may already have a policy that allows them to contact yo u after they have listed your position with the present company. Many people don't even realize they have this option, and it allows you to not only leave the current employer, but the transitions out of a high paying job as well. Often, employees who have been laid off will also leave their old colleagues behind.Don't be afraid to contact your current employer and offer to transition to the new company at some point. Many times, they will be happy to have you working for them, and you can still use this information on your resume. If you are currently unemployed, then you may want to consider asking to swap positions with someone who is currently employed. Many times, your resume will be judged based on your ability to communicate with and perform the job duties for a job you were previously hired for.Even though it is easier to highlight contract work on your resume, there are several other ways to highlight this valuable experience. The most important thing is to have all of the pertinent information, and make sure that you present your new employer with a resume that will match the job description of the position you are applying for.
